Unst charity fun run

BRITAIN’S northernmost primary school is looking for more people to join its annual fancy dress charity run for Sport Relief.

Over the years, Baltasound primary school’s regular Sport Relief Mile Challenge has attracted hundreds of participants and raised thousands of pounds for the national charity.

Pupils hope this year’s event on 19 March will also generate some money for a defibrillator and some training in life saving on the island of Unst.

Participants can run or walk along a one, three or six mile route and are being encouraged to dress up for the occasion, which will be followed by refreshments and entertainment in the school.

PE teacher and organiser Caroline Hunter said lots of people had already signed up for the run, but they hoped even more would come along.

“Let’s show the rest of the country what we can do and raise as much money as we possibly can for this incredible cause,” she said.

The run kicks off at 12.30pm at the school with people able to sign up on the day or in advance online here: http://my.sportrelief.com/search/event/result?id=5933&location=baltasound&event-type=run
