News / A good crop of awards
A COUNCIL gardener and salmon worker were recognised at an awards ceremony for trainee staff held in Dunblane on Thursday.
Liam Anderson, who co-authors a popular gardening blog on the Shetland Islands Council website, harvested two awards for his work in the Jubilee Flower Garden in Lerwick’s King Harald Street.
He snapped up a prize from CARAS (Council of Awards of Royal Agricultural Societies) and was runner up in the horticulture category at Lantra Scotland’s Learner of the Year awards.
The recognition follows his selection last year as the best SVQ horticulture student at the Elmwood campus of Scotland’s Rural College in Cupar.
Meanwhile Scottish Sea Farms husbandryman Martin Mladenov, originally from Bulgaria, scooped a CARAS award for his work at the Holmes and Teisti Geo salmon farms.
