News / Extra Hank Williams tribute show
A SECOND tribute concert celebrating the songs of Hank Williams has been announced for Lerwick after the first gig sold out six weeks in advance of its performance date of 26 March.
Local promoter Davie Gardner said the second performance would be an afternoon concert at Mareel the following day.
The Settin’ the Woods on Fire: The Songs of Hank Williams weekend tour led by Edinburgh singer/songwriter Dean Owens kicks off in the Mid Yell hall on Friday 25 March.
The show will include a host of local musicians such as Sheila Henderson, Brian Nicholson, Bryan Gear, Arthur Nicholson, May Mackie & Rhonda, ‘Big’ Robbie Cumming, Kansa, Alison Kay Anderson, Norman Goudie and Jack Robertson – with Yell based duo Megan and Lauren appearing on the Mid Yell concert bill only.
Gardner said: “I’m delighted that, thanks to Mareel, we are now in a position to offer this second event to help meet the demand for tickets.
“It promises to be a great event with lots of terrific names involved and hopefully one not to be missed by all fans of Hank Williams or lovers of country music in general.”
Tickets for the Mid Yell and the Sunday afternoon shows are available from the Shetland Box Office.
