News / Barred again
A MAN has been fined and banned from a Lerwick pub for two years for assaulting one of its door staff.
He (name removed under the right to be forgotten) admitted assaulting the man at Da Wheel Bar on Lerwick’s Commercial Street on 21 June by punching him on the head and the body.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said the 28 year old had been previously barred from the premises and lashed out at the doorman when he unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry.
However defence agent Tommy Allan said his client was allowed in the bar that night, but wasn’t granted re-entry after he went out to smoke.
Allan said the seaman admitted his “stupid drunken behaviour” and wanted to apologise to the bar’s staff.
Sheriff Philip Mann said the man “obviously has a problem with drink” and already is subject to a two-year ban from the Fusion nightclub in Orkney.
He fined him £750 and gave him an exclusion order for Da Wheel for two years.
“If you don’t watch your step, you’ll be excluded from all pubs in Scotland because you’ll end up behind bars,” Sheriff Mann warned him.
