News / Icy roads
THERE were a number of car accidents in Shetland on Thursday morning amid a warning from police to take extra care on the roads due to icy conditions.
Drivers have been told to add extra time to their journeys as a result of black ice across the isles.
A car collided with a lamp post on Lerwick’s Commercial Road at around 6.40am.
Another car meanwhile went off the road at the Tingwall straight on the A970 at around 6.30am.
And a van and a car collided on Gilbertson Road in Lerwick at 6.10am. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
