News / Ferry disruption
STRONG south westerly gales forecast over the next 24 hours are forcing ferry operator NorthLink to make substantial changes to its timetable.
Friday’s northbound sailing of the ferry Hjaltland from Aberdeen has been brought forward from 7pm to noon, with estimated time of arrival in Lerwick at midnight.
The southbound Hrossey will leave Lerwick at 2pm, arriving at Kirkwall between 8pm and 9pm before heading for Aberdeen to arrive at 7am on Saturday.
Friday’s northbound sailing of freight vessel Helliar has been cancelled, as has the south bound sailing of sister cargo boat Hildasay.
Saturday’s passenger ferries are expected to sail on schedule, but the freight services remain under review.
