News / Pair arrested over thefts

TWO men have been arrested for separate stealing sprees in Shetland.

Police have confirmed that a 23 year old man has been charged with stealing four outboard motors worth several thousands of pounds in recent weeks.

The motors have now been recovered and returned to their owners.

He is also charged with stealing scrap metal on a number of occasions from locations throughout Shetland.

In addition, a 33 year old man has been charged with stealing a number of personal items from Scatsta Airport over a period of several weeks.

Reports on both matters will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Meanwhile, police are looking for information following reports of damage to the Clickimin Broch in Lerwick.

The acts of vandalism took place over several weeks, with some lighting broken.

Police say the cost to repair the lighting and “other damage” is “significant”.

Anyone who has seen people causing damage or acting suspiciously at the broch should contact the Lerwick Police Station.
