TWO men from north east England have been remanded in custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court after appearing in private on Friday.

John Thompson, aged 30, from Newcastle upon Tyne has been charged with perverting the course of justice and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

David Francis, aged 29, of County Durham, is charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Both men appeared from custody and made no plea or declaration before being committed for further examination and led back to the cells.
