A FORTY two year old man is being held in custody until next week after he pled guilty to charges of threatening behaviour by brandishing a knife and possessing diazepam, a class C drug at an address in Lerwick on Saturday.
Lerwick Sheriff Court heard that Paul Macklin, of 14 Hogalee, Scalloway, was in the process of moving to Aberdeen when he returned to Shetland with friends to gather his and his girlfriend’s belongings.
Following a night out the group ended up at the address in Lerwick where Macklin became drunk on spirits.
Defence solicitor Tommy Allan said his client had no recollection of what happened thereafter.
Appearing from custody on Monday, Macklin admitted behaving aggressively, brandishing a knife as well as smashing a mobile phone and other household items.
Honorary sheriff Willie Shannon deferred sentence until 27 May and given the “seriousness of the charges” remanded him in custody until then.
MEANWHILE, Lerwick twins Lee and Drew Hamilton have been remanded in custody after both admitted failing to appear at court last week as well as stealing two bottles of vodka from a local supermarket on 23 April.
The two 19-year olds with an address of 89 St Olaf Street appeared from custody before the town’s sheriff court on Monday.
Both were on bail, granted on 4 and on 18 February, when committing the offences.
Honorary sheriff Willie Shannon said he was concerned the teenagers appeared before him on a warrant and while on bail and remanded them until sentencing on 10 June.
He also asked for a criminal justice report to be submitted.
