News / Two year driving ban
A MAN who drove a car in Lerwick while disqualified from holding a licence has been banned from the road for two years.
David Laverty, of Meadowfield Road, Scalloway, admitted committing the offence on the town’s Holmsgarth Road when he appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon.
55 year old Laverty, who was originally banned for drink driving, was also uninsured when he took to the wheel yesterday (Sunday).
Sheriff Philip Mann said it was a serious offence, and also imposed £2,000-worth of fines.
