News / Erraid shortlisted
SHETLAND swimming star Erraid Davies has been shortlisted as a finalist in the sports category of the Young Scots Award.
In a memorable 100-metre breaststroke para sport finale in summer last year the then 13-year old from Skeld became the Commonwealth Games’ youngest ever medalist.
Barely able to walk at the age of four, Erraid, who has Perthes disease which causes problems in her hip bones and joints, was encouraged to take up swimming.
Now aged 14 and a member of Delting Dolphins swimming club, Erraid hopes to take her good form to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The winners of the Young Scot Awards will be announced at a ceremony held at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on 30 April.
