LERWICK-based company Hughson Brothers was named Member of the Year 2015 at the Today’s Group annual awards dinner held at the Ascot Racecourse last week.
Local manager Carl Cross said the award was a “great accolade” for one of the smallest member companies within the group.
“We are part of the Today’s Group which has turnover of £5.7 billion in the UK and 170 members,” he said.
“It means a great deal to us and has been a great honour to accept the award on behalf of the company which employs 18 staff.”
Hughson Brothers was a founder member of Today’s Group back in 1987.
Following a change of ownership in 2012 Hughson Brothers has experienced an accelerated level of investment allowing it to replace an aging road fleet and undertake a depot refurbishment.
Cross joined Hughson Brothers in 1997 and was appointed as a company director in 2012.
During the award ceremony the company was described as “an extremely solid business” with Cross the driving force behind its success.
