News / No alcohol for Owen
A YOUNG Lerwick man has been released on bail on condition he does not drink alcohol after he appeared from custody charged with assault at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday.
Owen Haughian, aged 22, of Hoofields, is charged with pushing a man and striking another man on the body at Tingwall’s Herrislea Court on Saturday, and punching a woman on the head, seizing her by the arm and dragging her at nearby Herrislea Hill.
He has also been charged with causing a breach of the peace in the back of the police car that drove him to Lerwick police station after his arrest.
The charge states that he screamed, swore and shouted while repeatedly banging his head against the car’s rear window and calling an office a “Paki”.
Honorary sheriff Eric Peterson continued the case without plea until Wednesday, until when he has been ordered not to partake of alcohol and to submit to a breath test if the police request one.
