News / Community orchestra recruits
SHETLAND Community Orchestra is looking for new members to play at the group’s spring concert.
Rehearsals for the concert on 7 March will start next Sunday, 11 January.
The orchestra’s secretary Ian Perry said: “If you play an orchestral instrument or other brass or woodwind instruments we would be delighted to see you at one of our first two rehearsals on Sunday 11 January or Sunday 18 January, from 2pm to 5pm.”
The programme for the spring concert includes a number of classical works with a link to theatre and stage.
These are Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Moussorgsky’s
Night on Bare Mountain, followed by more recent pieces:
- Phantom of the Opera – Lloyd Webber
- Chicago: Kander/Ebb – arr. Ricketts
- Nutcracker Suite Selection : Tchaikovsky
The concert will also feature pieces by vocal talents Veev:
- Polotsvian Dances – Borodin
- Spells’ – Chilcott.
