News / Masters darts to return
CLICKIMIN Leisure Complex is to welcome back heavyweights from the professional darts scene for the fifth Shetland Darts Masters tournament in the spring.
With the festive period in full swing, and on the eve of the Professional Darts Corporation World Championships, Shetland Recreational Trust and SDM Promotions described the announcement as an “early gift to Shetland darts fans”.
There will be another prestigious line-up for the tournament with defending champion Simon ‘The Wizard of Oz’ Whitlock ready to trade tungsten blows with challengers on 18 April 2015.
He will be joined by Michael Van Gerwen, Peter ‘Snakebight’ Wright, James Wade, Robert Thornton, ‘The Highlander’ aka Big John Nderson and ‘The Silverback’ Tony O’Shea. A wild card place is to be filled in January to complete the line-up following the PDC World Championships, staged over the festive period.
Joining the players once again will be host MC Steve Mottershead of SJ SportMedia, PDC referee George Noble and referee ‘Little’ Richard Ashdown.
Speaking on behalf of SDM Promotions, Gideon Ward said: “This event promises to be the best ever. When you attract a line-up as good as this one there can only be one outcome – a quality day’s entertainment.”
- Details of tickets and prices will be announced on the SRT’s website and through local media in the new year, with both hospitality packages and general sale tickets on offer. Event sponsorship opportunities are also available, and anyone who would like their company to be part of the event can email gideonward@btinternet.com for more details.
