News / Lifeboat inspects floating raft
AITH lifeboat was called out on Monday after a member of the public reported what looked like an upturned liferaft floating in West Burrafirth Voe.
Once at the scene, the crew of the lifeboat launched the small inflatable Y-boat to be able to have a close look at the floating object.
It was determined that the object had been a raft of some sort. It was upturned and fastened to the bottom of the fairly shallow water.
There were no markings to identify the origin of the raft and it appeared empty.
The lifeboat was back at the Aith pier at 2.10pm, an hour and a half after being launched.
