THE SCOTTISH government

THE SCOTTISH government has appointed an islands minister for the first time as part of new first minister Nicola Sturgeon’s reshuffle. Former local government minister Derek Mackay who led the government’s islands working group in the run up to the independence referendum has been appointed minister for transport and the islands.
