News / Huge walk raised £18k
A GROUP of work colleagues who walked from Unst to Sumburgh non-stop in early September ended up raising over £18,000 for three different charities.
The ten workers, employed by Bilfinger at Sullom Voe, left Unst at 6am on Friday 5 September and received a hero’s welcome when they arrived in Sumburgh at around 3.30pm the following day.
The 80-mile walk was organised to help six year old Sandwick boy Charlie Newlands, who is receiving treatment for leukaemia. The proceeds will be divided between CLIC Sargent, Chloe’s Chemoo Cows and Glasgow’s Ronald McDonald House.
