The Stornoway search and rescue helicopter near the Clickimin landing site on Wednesday afternoon.

POLICE have confirmed that a man in his 60s was taken to the Clickimin landing site, in Lerwick, on Wednesday afternoon.

A spokeswoman said the force was alerted to a “medical matter” at 2.23pm and arranged for the Stornoway based search and rescue helicopter to airlift the man from a vessel 18 miles west of Shetland.

No further details were available.
