Letters / Thank God for the law
How the Viking Energy proponents whinge, squirm and now throw insults.
If only messrs Ratter, Wills, Hunter, Wishart et al had taken the concerns of Shetlanders on board when those concerns were first voiced, no legal action would have ever been undertaken or necessary.
Unfortunately this whole sorry mess can be laid squally at the door of those advocates of VE who ignored the concerns of so many.
I must ask Ratter, Wills, Hunter, Wishart et al why they made no attempt whatsoever to ask the people of Shetland how they actually regard the VE plans?
Why do you not only dismiss the considered views of Sustainable Shetland, but also the views so many others such as Scottish Natural Heritage, the John Muir Trust, Shetland Island Council’s own planning department and the RSPB?
If Viking Energy and its proponents wish to apportion blame for their current predicament they need to look no further than themselves.
Who are the fanatics here, who remorselessly pushed this project forward with absolutely no regard for legitimate public concern? I think the facts more than speak for themselves.
