News / Free energy advice
FREE renewables and energy efficiency advice from the Energy Saving Trust will be available during an event at Lerwick’s Clickimin Centre on Saturday.
Renewables advisors from the local Home Energy Scotland advice centre will be on hand from 11 until 5pm to offer impartial and in-depth advice on the best domestic energy options.
Scottish government funded interest free loans of up to £10,000 are available for renewables project while the Green Homes Cashback Scheme is offering up to £7,300 for energy efficiency measures.
Meanwhile, Shetland Islands Council has been awarded £820,000 for 2014/15 to combat fuel poverty and encourage carbon reduction in the isles.
The grant is double the size of last year’s allocation in recognition of Shetland’s many households who live in fuel poverty.
Advisers from the council will also be available at Saturday’s event outlining the services and support that they can offer to householders.
Home Energy liaison officer Steven Coutts said: “This event provides the ideal opportunity for householders interested in improving their property’s energy efficiency or installing renewables to find out more on what’s on offer in Shetland.
“I would urge everyone who is interested in learning more to come along and speak to our advisors and the installers in attendance to see what solutions may be available for their home and funding to help make that happen”.
