News / Thieves target school
POLICE in Shetland are following “a positive line of enquiry” after the Sound primary school, in Lerwick, was targeted by thieves overnight between Friday and Saturday.
A spokesman said “considerable damage” had been done to all parts of the school, including classrooms, kitchen and offices.
Money was taken from charity boxes and fundraising collections.
“This is being viewed as a drug related crime which is particularly selfish and harmful to our community.
“This act will have an adverse effect on the school children, the staff, and the local charities the school promote,” the spokesman said.
Police are keen to speak to anyone with knowledge of this crime, or saw any person acting suspiciously in the area.
Lerwick police station can be contacted via the 101 Police Scotland number.
