News / Father faces Asbo threat
A YOUNG Shetland father has been warned by Lerwick Sheriff Court to control his behaviour if he wants to stay out of jail.
On Wednesday, 18 year old Andrew Patterson, of 50 Sandveien, Lerwick, appeared from custody to plead guilty to causing a breach of the peace by shouting and swearing on Tuesday afternoon near his home.
The court heard that the incident took place after Patterson’s pregnant girlfriend had thrown him and his possessions out of her house at the weekend.
He wanted to go to Aberdeen to “cool off”, and needed documents she had kept in the house.
Defence agent Tommy Allan said she started “balling and shouting” at him and he started shouting back, which is when the breach was committed.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said Patterson’s behaviour had terrified a one year old and three year old walking past with their mother.
The fiscal said that Patterson should have the threat of prison placed before him to encourage him to behave himself, and suggested he be placed on an anti social behaviour order which could mean custody if it were breached.
Sheriff Philip Mann deferred sentence for reports for one month and released Patterson on bail, saying he would consider either an ASBO or community payback order to get across the message that he had to behave himself in public.
