News / Assault charges
TWO CREW members from the accommodation ship Ocean Endeavour have appeared in court in connection with three alleged assaults in the centre of Lerwick last month.
Twenty seven year olds Vlad-Ionut Ene and Cosmin-Gabriel Popescu made no plea in relation to events said to have taken place on Commercial Street, Lerwick on 13 April.
Appearing in Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday afternoon, both gave their address as the Ocean Endeavour, which is currently berthed at Victoria Pier to accommodate construction workers helping to build Total’s new gas plant in Shetland.
Ene is accused of punching a woman on the head and knocking her to the ground to her injury. He is also facing a charge of punching a man on the head to his injury.
Popescu is accused of knocking another woman to the ground by punching her on the head and kicking her on the body.
Their cases were continued until 15 May and both men were granted bail.
