News / Caravanning

SHETLAND Caravan Club is kicking off this year’s summer season with a launch event at Sound Hall on Sunday afternoon.

The club said members were upbeat despite the loss of the Lerwick camping site, and had just finalised planning this summer’s rallies.

Club secretary Janice Pottinger said: “We are holding nine rallies in total from Unst to Dunrossness between May – September.

“We hope to encourage families to join in the fun, welcoming new members as well as welcoming back previous members who might be feeling somewhat despondent at the fact that they have lost the site in Lerwick.”

Sunday’s launch, from 12 noon until 4.30pm, will have caravans and tents on show, a reversing workshop will offer some driving, and representative from the many local campsites will try to attract new business.

Pottinger added: “We aim to please all tastes and folk are encouraged to join in with as much as they want or to simply chillax and get away from the stresses and strains of the busy lives we lead.”

For more info she can be contacted on 01595 859054 after 4pm.
