THE COUNTRY’S most northerly school is celebrating after having been awarded almost £22,000 in lottery funding.
The money will be used to develop the ground within the Baltasound junior High school’s nursery and infants play area into a safe and stimulating area intended to encourage active learning as well as being used by the wider community.
The area will be fitted out with a safe floor surface and “learning furniture” to be used by primary and nursery pupils, an under fives club, as well as Saturday club and local child minders.
Local MSP Tavish Scott congratulated the school on its successful bid for funding.
