News / Saw Doctors duo to visit
FOR THE past year or so fans of Irish global sensations the Saw Doctors have been lamenting the fact that the band have taken a relatively lengthy break from their otherwise hectic touring and recording schedule.
To temporarily fill that gap two band members – vocalist Leo Moran and bass/saxophone player Anthony Thistlethwaite – have struck out on their own as a duo, and touring their own popular acoustic show around the land to keep the band’s committed fan base happy in the meantime.
They will play in Shetland’s Mareel on Saturday 15 March.
Local promoter Davy Gardner is managing the Lerwick show on behalf of Highlands and Islands promoters Beyond.
He said the show would inevitably feature alternative takes on well-known Saw Doctors songs and a few from Thistlethwaite’s solo albums.
“Shetland has legions of committed Saw Doctors fans as was shown when they played here at the folk festival a few years back.
“In lieu of that hopefully happening again someday, this will hopefully be a great way to keep those fans happy in the meantime,” he added
Tickets go on sale through Shetland Box Office (online, phone or direct purchases) as well as the Ticketmaster and Music Glue websites at noon on Monday 10 February, priced £15.
