News / Kestrel ropes were deliberately cut
AN INVESTIGATION is under way after the ropes of a scallop boat, berthed at Collafirth Pier, in Shetland, were deliberately cut overnight to Monday.
The eleven metre Kestrel drifted ashore at a nearby beach where she was found on Monday morning.
Skipper Gary Leask managed to refloat the vessel on the rising tide and took her back to the pier.
Police were due to arrive at the scene on Monday afternoon to investigate.
Divers from local firm Malakoff are at the scene to check if the vessel sustained any damage.
A spokesman for Shetland Coastguard said there was no water intake and no pollution.
Lerwick lifeboat was launched to stand by but returned back to station before arriving at Collafirth.
