SHETLAND features strongly in this year’s Scots Trad Music Awards with five nominations.
The shortlists include:
• Lerwick venue Mareel for venue of the year;
• Chris Stout for instrumentalist of the year;
• Margaret Scollay for tutor of the year;
• Blazin’ Fiddles with local fiddler Jenna Reid for Scots folk band; and
• Transatlantic Sessions with Aly Bain for Traditional Music in the Media.
The awards ceremony takes place at Aberdeen Music Hall on 7 December with a gala concert that features Blazin’ Fiddles and Shetland duo Brian Gear and Violet Tulloch. The winners are chosen by public vote at http://projects.scottishcultureonline.com/scotstradmusicawards/voting/
