News / Tesco fundraiser
A GROUP of Tesco employees will take to the road and cycle from Lerwick to Unst on Sunday, part of the company’s ‘Cyle2Shetland’ fundraising campaign.
Employees from 20 Tesco supermarkets in the north of Scotland are attempting to raise at least £10,000 for the charity Diabetes UK.
Staff have so far raised more than £500 locally and hope to keep raising awareness in-store and online, over the weekend.
The bike relay started in Stornoway more than a week ago and will have covered more than 570 miles when it reaches the most northerly part of the UK on Sunday.
Lerwick Tesco supermarket manager Paul Clelland said: “We would like to think we’ll see some more donations beforehand or en route.
“Diabetes is an accelerating problem in Scotland and the UK in general, so it is a worthy cause.”
