Letters / Apologies and congratulation
I’m pleased to have been updated to the fact that Jean Urquhart MSP has signed the Shetland Times “Drop the Debt” petition (our paper has just arrived) and called for others to do likewise.
Ms Urquhart is quoted in a lengthy “Comment” piece, “The Shetland Times “Drop the Debt” campaign is a worthy and welcome reminder of the need for governments to be held accountable for their promises and their actions.”
I was unaware of this and I apologise to her for her inclusion in my open letter (SN, 8 June 13) and welcome her politically courageous, comments.
That leaves only “Yes Shetland” dragging their feet.

Shetland News is asking its many readers to consider start paying for their dose of the latest local news delivered straight to their PC, tablet or mobile phone.
Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
