News / Four times the limit
A SOUTH mainland man who drove his car while more than four times the legal limit for alcohol has had his van taken from him by Lerwick Sheriff Court.
Shane Anderson, of Keolka, Sandwick, was also banned for two years and ordered to carry out 100 hours community work after admitting drink driving when he appeared from custody on Tuesday.
Anderson was arrested by police as he drove home on the main A970 at Gulberwick shortly after midnight on Monday night.
The 35 year old avoided a jail sentence because it was his first offence, and has been told he can reduce his ban by three months if he undertakes an alcohol awareness course.
