Boat towed in

LERWICK lifeboat was launched on Saturday lunchtime after a Fraserburgh fishing boat requested a tow after their engine broke down in calm conditions south of Skerries.

However before the lifeboat reached the stricken Valhalla (FR 268), the Irish pelagic trawler Voyager nearby offered assistance and towed her into Lerwick harbour around 5pm.

Meanwhile coastguard rescue helicopter Oscar Charlie flew to Fetlar on Saturday morning to airlift a man with chest pains to Lerwick’s landing strip from where he was taken by ambulance to Gilbert Bain Hospital.
