News / Our ‘Advent Calendar Spectacular’ competition
Our ‘Advent Calendar Spectacular’ is here again to take you back in time while we all look forward to the festivities ahead.
We have another selection of images of old Lerwick shops from the Shetland Museum and Archives photo library, each with a question you will have to answer.
A new photo will be presented in our slideshow each day until 25 December.
Now all 25 photos have been added you can download your answer sheet, fill it in and then post or email it to Shetland News where the winners of our exciting prizes will be picked from a hat.
1st Prize: A £300 voucher to spend at Irvine Interiors
2nd Prize: A luxurious one night stay for two at West Hall B&B in Lerwick with a Swedish massage provided by Benessere.
3rd Prize: A fabulous Indulgence Orkney Hamper from Judith Glue worth £100!
The competition closes on 7 January 2013, so get friends, family or work colleagues together, particularly the older and wiser (of course!) generation to help you get the right answers to all 25 questions.
Access the competition in our Christmas feature or click here.

Shetland News is asking its many readers to consider start paying for their dose of the latest local news delivered straight to their PC, tablet or mobile phone.
Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
Your contribution will ensure Shetland News can: -
- Bring you the headlines as they happen;
- Stay editorially independent;
- Give a voice to the community;
- Grow site traffic further;
- Research and publish more in-depth news, including more Shetland Lives features.
