New oil field east of Shetland
STATOIL is developing the Mariner oil field, 90 miles east of Shetland, investing £4.3 billion.
Discovered 30 years ago, Mariner has until now been too complex to develop, and is the largest development in the North Sea for a decade.
The Norwegian company said the field has reserves of 250 million barrels and should produce around 55,000 barrels a day staring in 2017. The
