News / Northboats cancelled again
NORTHLINK has now confirmed that all their Saturday services, apart from a morning run across the Pentland Firth, have been cancelled.
This is the third consecutive day that passenger and cargo services between Shetland and Aberdeen have been disrupted.
The ferry company said that there was a “possibility” that services could resume on Sunday as south easterly storms were forecast to abate.
On update on Sunday’s sailings is expected to be published at 10am the same day.
Meanwhile Loganair has added a fifth extra flight between Shetland and Aberdeen to help move stranded people between the isles and the Scottish mainland.
The additional extra service will depart Aberdeen for Sumburgh at 3.50pm and return to Aberdeen leaving Shetland at 5.10pm, on Saturday afternoon.
Flights can be booked online at www.flybe.com (up to two hours before departure), or flybe.com/ads as appropriate.
These flights will only be on sale as of Saturday morning and can also be booked made by calling 0871 700 2000 (between 8am and 4pm).
The airline has already laid on one extra flight on Friday afternoon and three on Saturday.
Shetland’s inter-island ferries are also affected by the weather: the Yell and Whalsay Sound services have been reduced to only one vessel operating.
