Letters / Thank you, Jonathan
Thank you, Jonathan, for at least explaining what is supposed to be happening with this £600,000 the council is handing over to Mareel (No gifts to Mareel, SN, 7 Dec. 12).
Although I am still not in favour of the council handing over another lump of money, I can understand that at this stage it would not be in any ones interest not to do so.
I do hope that (a) the council makes sure it gets back every penny, and (b) they make sure none of this money is used to pay off DITT or their court battle.
Now, I have been a big fan of music as far back as I can remember but I always said this was not a building for Shetland, as I believe it is now double the price it should have cost.
I am pleased to hear it is doing so well at the moment, but let’s just wait for the next year or so and see if it is still getting the same level of support before I am convinced this was a good idea.
