Letters / Status quo rules

Well, on 25 November we had a fair bit of action/amusement regarding Viking Energy.

In one side of the ring we had Halcrow, Steppanova, Barton And Tinkler, in the other we had Doctor Wills. The Usual Suspects.

What was the skirmish about? Who said what? Where? When?

Basically reading between the lines, once the health study is complete the following scenarios will play out:-

1) If in Viking’s favour, Sustainable Shetland and like minded people will claim foul play and will never accept the study. They will call it biased and carried out by a pro wind team. The project/argument/campaign will simply continue.

2) If in Sustainable Shetland’s favour, Viking Energy will simply use the term “ALARP”, which we use in the oil and gas industry while risk assessing hazards. Any risk to Health will be As Low As Reasonably Practicable by simple use of mitigation. The project/argument/campaign will simply continue.

So all and all status quo continues, although a few people’s blood pressure may have blipped.
