Happy Mondays postponed

THE MUCH anticipated Shetland concert next month by Madchester pop legends The Happy Mondays has been postponed due to “unforeseen medical circumstances”.

One band members’ illness has led the group to postpone most of their European tour, including the gig at Mareel on 15 December.

Local promoters Klub Revolution and Shetland Arts are negotiating with the band’s management to reschedule the sold out concert, but as this is unlikely to happen before next spring there will be refunds available on all tickets from 26 November.

Meanwhile the promoters are in talks with “another name band” to fill the 15 December slot.

The promoters and the band apologised for “the major inconvenience caused by this unavoidable decision, especially for those who were travelling to Shetland for the show”.
