News / Remanded in custody

A MOSSBANK man has been remanded in custody after appearing on nine charges before Lerwick Sheriff Court, on Monday.

The case against Matthew Raymond Smith, of 27 Leaside, is being continued without plea.

The 27 year old is alleged to have taken a car from an address at Millgaet, in Lerwick, without the owner’s consent, on 4 November, and driving it while intoxicated and disqualified.

He is also charged with resisting arrest at the address at Millgaet, and failing to give breath and urine samples, on the same date.

Finally, Smith is alleged to have committed these offenses while on bail, and breaching conditions that require him not to be intoxicated in a public place and residing at a different address, in Lerwick.

He is expected to appear again before the court next week.
