Letters / The regulator’s right

Over the past few weeks I have been amazed at the disbelief/dumbfoundedness of the “directors” of our beloved charitable trust.

Accusations of bullying, having their hands forced, the threat of court action hanging in the air from the “duds” Scottish Charity Regulator.

These are the same “directors” that took four shambolic attempts to make one decision.

The same “directors” that happen to head our shambolic council.

The same “directors” that openly admit/complain/dither over a conflict of interest.

And hear we are reading about foul play and how we have been stripped of democracy.

Yet no mention of the countless warnings, the internal bickering and the complete lack of ability to make a controversial decision.

No mention of anyone holding up their hand and saying: “Sorry Shetland…we may have brought this on ourselves.”

Absolutely no accountability.

The Scottish Charity Regulator is right!!!

The further away the charitable trust is from the council/councillors the better. The council’s track record of spending alone is enough to justify that statement.

But it will be interesting to see who will now take up these eight posts, or in fact very uninteresting, because one gets the feeling it will be the same old names and same old faces.

Yours, an ever more disillusioned youth.
