News / Sales season kicks off with good prices
EXCEPTIONALLY keen demand resulted in good prices at Aberdeen and Northern Marts opening sale on Saturday, according to Shetland Livestock Marketing Group.
More than 2,400 lambs were sold, on average at prices of £2.50 per head higher than the same sale last year.
Best prices for prime lambs were:
- 1st – J&A Sinclair, Sandlodge, Sandwick – 47kgs -£75
- 2nd – M Georgeson, Mailand, Sand – 52kgs – £76.50
- 3rd – D Anderson, Newhouse, Grupps – 44kgs – £69.00
- 4th – G Williamson, Setter, Bressay £65.20
Store lambs:
- 1st – M Georgeson – £71.50
- 2nd – G Morrison, Haggersta, Whiteness – £67.00
- 3rd – J&A Sinclair – £64.00
- 4th – Mrs I Jamieson, New Grunnasound – £61.50
