News / Pair admit violent assaults

A TEENAGER who admitted carrying out violent assaults on two separate occasions in Shetland will be sentenced in October.

Appearing from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court, 19 year old Trevor Couper, whose address was given as Polmont Young Offenders Institution, pled guilty to four charges of assault to injury.

The initial attacks took place at Lerwick’s Garthspool on 10 March. These were followed up by two more at Sandside in Mossbank, on 20 May, which were committed while he was on bail.

Couper admitted acting with another person, including 21 year old Ryan Williamson, of 14 Sandside, Molssbank, who pled guilty to being involved in the Mossbank incidents.

Couper had already admitted being drunk in a public place on Lerwick’s Commercial Street on 18 May, breaching bail and a curfew imposed on him.

Sentence was deferred for four weeks for reports to be compiled.

Couper was remanded in custody until 3 October and Williamson was released on bail.
