News / Port says farewell to Arthur

LERWICK harbour pilot Arthur Christie has retired after 30 years of service with the port during which he guided more than 9,000 vessel movements safely in and out of the harbour.

Port chief executive Sandra Laurenson said: “Arthur has been a very dedicated and loyal member of staff and we wish him all the very best for a long and happy retirement”.

Mr Christie’s role at the LPA also included assistant harbourmaster duties.
