News / Serious assault leaves man in hospital
A MAN has been arrested and is due to appear in court next month following a serious assault on the Shetland island of Yell, which has left a man in hospital in Aberdeen.
Shetland police said a 37 year old man was flown by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he is in a stable condition after being assaulted outside a house in Cullivoe on Saturday evening.
A 34 year old man has ben arrested in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Lerwick Sheriff Court on 22 August.
Police say they believe there may have been several people who witnessed the incident and are urging them to come forward by contacting Lerwick police station on 01595 692110 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
