Driver escapes with slight injuries

THE FORTY-eight year old driver of a blue Citroën Saxo has escaped with just slight injuries when his vehicle appears to have hit a road sign and landed on its roof in a ditch near the Shetland Golf Club, one mile north of Lerwick.

The accident happened at a quarter past six on Sunday morning on the A970. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

Police in Shetland are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
