News / Norröna returns for a rare visit
THE Faroese ferry Norröna returned to Lerwick harbour on Wednesday morning for an 11 hour visit as part of a North Atlantic mini-cruise taking in Orkney, Shetland and Faroe.
It is the first time in more than four years that the vessel, in which Shetland still has a share, has berthed at Lerwick harbour.
In November 2007, the 163 metre vessel limped into the harbour after sustaining damage to her hull in storm force winds while on passage between Bergen and Torshavn.
Shetland was dropped from the scheduled ferry service between Faroe and Denmark in late summer 2007.
The vessel will be berthed at Holmgarth until 8pm.
