News / CLAN wish list
CANCER charity CLAN Cancer Support is appealing for local people to help put the finishing touches to its new centre in Lerwick.
CLAN hope to offer a drop in service for support and information, complementary therapies and provide a base for support groups to meet and develop at the former vet surgery at 39 Commercial Road.
However before it can get the centre up and running it needs some manpower and a range of items such as white goods, office furniture and signage.
A full wish list has been published on the charity’s website at www.clanhouse.org
Local coordinator Karen Scott said she was confident that Shetland would come to the rescue after all the support the organisation has had from the islands in the past.
“The support CLAN has received in Shetland over the years has been tremendous, and it is only because of this support that we have reached a position where we can open a centre on the island,” she said.
“However, there are things that we really need in order to make our new premises as comfortable and homely as possible.
“While we do have a ‘wish list’ of items, we are also looking for people to offer us their time as well to help us get up and running.”
Anyone who would like to donate either an item or their time to CLAN Cancer Support can contact Karen on 07767 848872.
