News / Mid Brae Inn extensively damaged
An investigation is under way into what caused a fire at the Mid Brae Inn that extensively damaged the popular pub and restaurant.
As many as 15 fire fighters, wearing breathing apparatus, tackled the blaze on Saturday morning.
Appliances from Brae, Lerwick and Hillswick were called to the fire in the centre of the north mainland village at 8am.
Fire Control said the inn’s kitchen was completely destroyed while the rest of the building sustained heat and smoke damage.
Fire fighters were back at base at just before 1pm.
The fire control spokeswoman said there were no suspicious circumstances.
