News / Another award
SHETLAND’S largest salmon business Grieg Seafood Hjaltland is used to winning awards for the quality of its fish products, having recently picked up another one at the Boston Seafood Show.
On Thursday it was the company’s processing factory Lerwick Fish Traders that picked up a certificate from a less exotic source.
Shetland Islands Council’s environmental health department handed over an Eat Safe Award for the company’s standards of food hygiene and food safety management at the staff canteen.
SIC environmental health executive manager Maggie Dunne said: “The Eat Safe award celebrates the hard work and commitment of the managers and staff in achieving excellent standards of food hygiene.
“This is our seventh award in Shetland, and I would encourage all food businesses to aim for this award as it provides them with a valuable tool to reassure customers of their commitment to produce food safely.”
LFT managing director Michael Stark said he was delighted the canteen had received such a prestigious award and it highlighted all the hard work and dedication put in by the canteen manageress and her staff.
